The Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University (RLBCAU) has been established as an Institution of national importance under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 10 of 2014), notified on 5th March 2014. This university was established and named in the memory of a great freedom fighter known as warrior queen of Jhansi Late Rani Lakshmi Bai, who sacrificed her life at the altar of the freedom. The objectives of the university are to impart qualitative education in different branches of agriculture and allied sciences, undertake research in agriculture, programmes of extension education and foster linkages with national and international educational institutes.

Information and knowledge resources are of immense value in imparting quality education and carrying out research and extension activities. Agriculture University Library plays an important role in the dissemination of information resources to support the education, research and extension education programmes. RLBCAU is developing an excellent centralized facility as University Library, to cater the day to day needs of the education, academic research and extension education community. The library is making systematic efforts, for collection development and dissemination of services and information resources to the users' community. In addition to this, the library is also facilitating access to online resources. The resources of the library comprise printed documents such as books, journals, annual reports, thesis etc. and online access to the databases of books journals and other information and knowledge resources related to agriculture and its allied areas. The RLBCAU library is a member of CeRA- Consortium of ICAR for access to e-Resources in Agriculture. The library is promoting intellectual growth and creativity by developing collections, facilitating access to information resources, and orientation for the effective use of the system and resources. It is in process of adopting innovative users’ centred approaches to improve the user experience of library services.
